Nature Bio Foods, Europe, specializing in organic ingredients, has opened a new state-of-the-art processing facility in Uganda. This strategic investment is symbolic of the company’s vision to increase its global presence in the organic ingredients market, advancing the organic movement worldwide. The company wants to position itself as strongly as possible. The opening of this facility demonstrates a proactive approach to expanding the business. Nature Bio Foods (NBF) would like to repeat the success of the Indian model in various regions.
The expansion of NBF to Uganda is an important step in the mission to bring the organic movement to all continents of the world. By processing organic ingredients locally, NBF is able to guarantee consistent supply to its customers while improving its growth prospects in Africa. The facility will take the lead in sourcing and processing organic soybean meal, as a catalyst for enriching NBF’s product portfolio, which will now include organic chia seeds, sesame seeds and sorghum. This facility opened with an initial production capacity of 10,000 tons and aims for an ambitious scale-up towards 18,000 tons by the year 2024.
With a significant capital expenditure investment, NBF is poised to deliver significant returns, targeting an impressive revenue milestone of €15 million over the next 3 to 4 years. As a socially responsible company, NBF is also very aware of its role in strengthening local communities. By providing employment for talented employees in Uganda, NBF aims to expand the current workforce at subsidiary Bonne Nature from 46 to 100 employees by the end of 2023.
‘Nature Bio Foods, Europe’ wants to achieve a sustainable and safe future for the next generation through cooperation and collective growth. The company is committed to organic farming and seeks to unite farmers, local communities and institutions across the African region. The team at NBF is committed to promoting and advancing organic farming practices in Africa through several key initiatives:
- Capacity building and stimulation of training, research, extension and education in organic farming.
- Facilitating local and export marketing of organic products from Africa.
- Spearhead the development and implementation of organic standards and advocate for certified organic production in Africa.
- Increasing awareness of and support for organic farming on the African continent.
Nature Bio Foods, Europe, through its subsidiary Bonne Nature, works with thousands of small family farmers who have large areas of sustainable organic farmland under their care. Indigenous farmers receive extensive training in optimal organic and biodynamic farming practices, while NBF bears the financial burden of obtaining the required organic certifications. A symbiotic relationship is created as NBF purchases the harvested crops at premium market prices, providing farm families with a sustainable income while protecting their health and natural environment.
African farmers seamlessly alternate growing crops for NBF with growing food crops for their own consumption, promoting both economic stability and environmental conservation. In addition, multi-cropping helps to make the soil fertile again. By connecting thousands of rural producers to global markets, NBF strengthens the basis for skilled and sustainable rural employment and contributes to climate and soil conservation.
